How can I search for videos on the web?

Here's a really easy way: use our Quick Search box at the top of this site. It takes your search terms and submits them to Altavista, automatically finding videos that match what you typed in.

Yahoo also has a similar video search capability, and Google just introduced their own version of video searching, but right now it's limited to providing screenshots and information about US-based television shows, rather than actually linking to video files on the web.

How can I search for videos with file-sharing systems?

Please note: Most file-sharing systems make no distinction between legal and illegal content (e.g. illegal copies of movies or tv shows). We recommend you familiarize yourself with our Legal Issues with File Sharing section before using any file-sharing service to download movies.

With most file-sharing systems, you can either type a search phrase directly into the client software, or into a web site dedicated to that file-sharing system. It will then return all of the matches from everyone currently connected to the system.
