BitTorrent

From Wikipedia: "BitTorrent allows many people to download the same file without incurring a great bandwidth cost to any particular person. It does this by having clients download portions of a file from one another, instead of all downloading from a single server."

To use BitTorrent, you'll need a BitTorrent client, and a way to find files to download (hint: use our Quick Search above).

Here are some popular BitTorrent resources:

  • BitTorrent - The Official Site
The official BitTorrent site by Bram Cohen, the creator of BitTorrent. Includes source code, documentation, and other BitTorrent information.
  • BitTorrent Clients
A page listing some of the more popular BitTorrent client applications.
  • BitTorrent on Wikipedia
Wikipedia has become the world's largest encyclopedia in less than four years of operation, with over 460,000 articles (growing 3000 per day) and 77 million words.
  • btbot
A popular and fast-growing search engine for bittorrents and ringtones. Crawls the web looking for torrents, rather than relying on other search engines.
  • Torrentz.com
A torrent search engine and tracker directory.
